The Vision

Our exciting journey on the road to managing the Majjistral Park begins with our vision.

In a complex and ever changing world with increasing dependence on resources, we feel that the best way forward is to take a holistic approach to managing them in a sustainable manner. In effect this means using them for our enjoyment and quality of life while understanding the interconnectedness of those same resources and safeguarding them for future generations of both humans and other species that share the same planet.

Understanding how we could share the same space is the key to realising this vision. If we start from a position of exploiting the resources around us, this will inevitably lead to conflict between users, be they producers of the land, occupiers, visitors carrying out any activity, or commercial enterprises providing goods or services. A successful plan for the park is one that sees the various activities therein as forming parts of one body that can move forward harmoniously. When that happens, agriculture can with tourism, which in turn blends with sport, health, leisure, environment and the enjoyment and appreciation of our natural, cultural and rural heritage.

This is our vision for the Park, which could be replicated across the Natura 2000 network of sites in the Maltese Islands.
